The idea
Summary based on Sadhak Sanjivaniसाधक-संजीवनीपर आधारित सारTherefore, one whose senses are completely restrained from their objects has a steady intellect.
What is Krishna saying?
Concluding the theme of controlling mind and senses that began at 2.60, Krishna says: one in whose mind and senses the pull of the world no longer exists has an established intellect. 'Sarvashah' means in every state — whether dealing with the world or thinking alone — his senses do not run toward pleasures. However many objects come near, they cannot move him, and his mind joining a sense cannot shake his intellect, because objects have lost their importance for him.
Step by step
- 1
'Nigrihitani' means not a trace of attachment or pull toward objects remains in the senses.
- 2
The seeker should firmly resolve: my goal is to attain God, not to enjoy and accumulate. Constant watchfulness in this makes the intellect steady.

Examples Swamiji gives in the commentaryव्याख्यामें स्वामीजीके दृष्टान्तThe unshakable mountain
As no one can move a mountain, the intellect of such a person becomes so firm that the mind cannot shake it in any situation.
A snake without fangs
Once a snake's fangs are removed, it has no poison; even if it bites, nothing happens. Freeing the senses of like and dislike is like pulling their poisonous fangs — they no longer have the power to lead the seeker to a fall.

The senses need not be destroyed, only freed of like and dislike; then they lose their power to harm.

While taste for objects remains, the turbulent senses forcibly carry away the mind even of a wise person who is striving.

When the mind follows even one wandering sense, it carries away the intellect, as wind carries away a boat on water.
