English
Sadhaka-Sanjivani(Ksetras), Arjuna. The Knowledge of Ksetra and Ksetrajna, is considered true knowledge, by Me.
The idea
Summary based on Sadhak Sanjivaniसाधक-संजीवनीपर आधारित सारThe knower in every body is one with Me; seeing the body as one with the world, and the knower with Me, is knowledge.
What is Krishna saying?
In ‘I am’, the ‘I’ belongs to the field and the ‘am’ is the knower. Without the link to ‘I’, the ‘am’ would simply be ‘is’, so the knower is really one with God. Krishna says ‘know’ (viddhi): just as you took yourself to be in the body and the body to be yours, take yourself to be in Me and Me to be yours. The body is naturally one with the world and the self is naturally one with God; taking the body as separate from the world and oneself as separate from God are both false assumptions. Knowledge of arts, languages and worlds is useful in daily life but keeps one entangled; real knowledge is what ends the self’s tie with the body.
The field (body)
- One with the whole worldसम्पूर्ण संसारसे एक
- A portion of prakriti: turn away from itप्रकृतिका अंश—इससे विमुख हो जाओ
The knower (self)
- One with Krishna
- His portion: turn towards Himभगवान्का अंश—उनके सम्मुख हो जाओ
Step by step
- 1
The farthest thing from us is the body; the nearest is God.
- 2
The world is known by being separate from it, free of attachment; God is known by being one with Him.
What could this look like today?
Modern analogy · not from the sourceआधुनिक उदाहरण · मूल ग्रन्थसे नहींcareer
A degree, a coding stack and three languages are all useful for work. By this verse they are still knowledge about the field. The knowledge Krishna calls his own view is the one that ends your identification with the body.
Why it matters
The verse turns identity around: the self we took to be one with the body is in truth one with God. The rest of the Gita’s path of knowledge rests on this.

That which pervades all cannot be destroyed
Know that to be imperishable by which all this is pervaded; no one can destroy the indestructible.
15.7The soul is My own eternal part
The self that has become the jiva is My eternal part, yet it draws to itself the mind and senses, which belong to prakriti.
