English
Sadhaka-SanjivaniFix thy mind on Me alone and fix thy intellect on Me alone; there upon thou shalt live in Me entirely. There is no doubt, about it.
The idea
Summary based on Sadhak Sanjivaniसाधक-संजीवनीपर आधारित सारSet the mind and intellect on God and you will know that you already dwell in Him — there is no doubt about it.
What is Krishna saying?
This is the first of four means (surrender, practice, action for God, giving up desire for fruits). Our place in God is already given, but because mind and intellect are turned to the world we do not experience it. Turning the mind from worldly thinking to God, and firmly deciding with the intellect 'I am only God's and He alone is mine', ends the world's hold. Of the two, the intellect's resolve comes first. Swamiji clarifies in the appendix that it is really the self that joins God; mind and intellect then dissolve in Him. 'No doubt' removes the belief that God is reached only after perfect conduct and long meditation.
Step by step
- 1
The moment mind and intellect are wholly in God, realization follows — there is no time gap.
- 2
The body, senses and mind all changed since childhood, but 'I' remained the same — the unchanging self and God are of one kind.
- 3
God is not bought with inert means; He is realized when the assumed tie with the inert is broken.

Examples Swamiji gives in the commentaryव्याख्यामें स्वामीजीके दृष्टान्तNeedle and thread
Wherever the needle goes, the thread follows. So wherever mind and intellect go, the self follows — which is why the Lord asks us to put them in Him.
The goldsmith's fire
A goldsmith heats gold in fire so the foreign alloy separates and pure gold remains. Placing mind and intellect in God, they fall away and the self merges in Him.
The millionaire's foolish son
A rich man's son separates from him and claims one or two rooms of the mansion as progress; once he sees his mistake, inheriting everything is easy. The self likewise claims a small mind and intellect as its own, forgetting it is part of God.
It shifts the burden from controlling a restless mind to settling who you belong to — and promises the result without doubt.
