What is Krishna saying?
Swamiji traces the chain of sorrow: attachment causes dejection, dejection gives rise to desire, and from desire all sorrows come. All sorrow arises from connection with body and world; that connection comes from the thirst for pleasure; and that thirst comes from dejection. When clarity dawns, dejection goes, the thirst for pleasure goes, the connection goes, and so sorrow goes. 'End of all sorrows' does not mean painful situations never come — they may, according to karma — but they cause no disturbance inside. Clarity does two things: it cuts the tie with the world and steadies the intellect in God.
Step by step
- 1
Prasada means constant cheerfulness with no dejection and no dryness.
- 2
Painful events may still come by karma, but they produce no inner agitation.
- 3
The seeker should not be elated even by the dearest worldly thing, nor agitated by the most unpleasant, because a melted heart fixes whatever feeling enters it.

Examples Swamiji gives in the commentaryव्याख्यामें स्वामीजीके दृष्टान्तColour in melted wax
In joy and in anguish the heart melts. Just as colour poured into melted wax becomes permanent, whatever feeling — divine or worldly — enters a melted heart becomes lasting and then lifts one up or pulls one down.
What could this look like today?
Modern analogy · not from the sourceआधुनिक उदाहरण · मूल ग्रन्थसे नहींfailure
A rejection letter still arrives; what changes with a clear mind is that it no longer sets off days of inner turmoil. That is how Swamiji reads 'the end of all sorrows'.
Why it matters
It locates the end of sorrow not in changing circumstances but in the inner clarity that comes from freedom from attachment.
