The idea
Summary based on Sadhak Sanjivaniसाधक-संजीवनीपर आधारित सारThe great chariot-warriors will think you withdrew from battle out of fear, and those who esteemed you will think little of you.
What is Krishna saying?
Swamiji puts Krishna's reasoning plainly: Arjuna thinks he is withdrawing for his spiritual good, but if he truly thought war was sin he would have stayed in solitude doing bhajan, not come to the battlefield. Having come, if he now withdraws, great warriors like Bhishma, Drona, Kripa and Shalya — who believe Arjuna is the foremost fighter, victor over demons, gods and gandharvas — will conclude he fled for fear of death, and he will fall in their eyes.
Why it matters
It asks us to check our motives honestly: a retreat dressed up as virtue may really be fear.
