Summary based on Sadhak Sanjivaniसाधक-संजीवनीपर आधारित सारBetween the two armies, Krishna, as if smiling, speaks to the grieving Arjuna.
What is Krishna saying?
Arjuna came to the middle of the armies full of courage and has sunk into grief right there. Krishna smiles for two reasons: Arjuna's mood has swung from eagerness to despair, and having just said 'I take refuge in You, teach me,' he has decided on his own, 'I will not fight' — as if stepping back from surrender. Yet Krishna does not say 'do as you wish'. He looks at the seeker's inner feeling rather than his words, and out of great affection begins His teaching. Whoever turns to Him even in words, He accepts.
Step by step
- 1
God attends to the seeker's inner feeling, not to words spoken in distress.
- 2
A person overwhelmed by worry says one thing now and another later; Krishna understands this.
Why it matters
Even a half-hearted turning towards God is received with grace; the teaching is given out of love for Arjuna and, through him, for all.
