Sadhaka-Sanjivani(modes of Nature), is difficult to overcome; however; those who perpetually worship Me alone could penetrate it.
The idea
Summary based on Sadhak Sanjivaniसाधक-संजीवनीपर आधारित सारThe divine maya made of the three gunas is hard to cross, but whoever takes refuge in God alone crosses it.
What is Krishna saying?
Krishna explains why beings fail to know Him: His maya, made of sattva, rajas and tamas, is hard to cross. Swamiji says it is hard to cross because people keep identifying with passing states — happy, sad, clever, weak — and bind themselves to them through 'I', 'mine' and desire. Maya becomes insurmountable only when the gunas are given an existence and importance apart from God. The one who takes refuge in God alone, whose eyes are on Him and not on the gunas, crosses it — and relying on things, even on one's own mind and intellect, is dependence on maya.
Maya stays hard to cross
- Giving the gunas existence and importance apart from God
- Treating money, things, body and mind as one's support
Maya is crossed
- Taking refuge in God alone
- Regarding body and senses as God's, for His service
Step by step
- 1
Use things, but do not make them your support: we have the right to use them, not to possess them.
- 2
'Me alone' (mām eva) matters: many take God's refuge, but not His refuge alone.
- 3
Taking refuge means merging one's own existence into God's existence — accepting only His existence, neither the ego's nor maya's.

Modern analogy · not from the sourceआधुनिक उदाहरण · मूल ग्रन्थसे नहींmoney
You can use your savings, phone and skills fully — the trouble starts when your sense of safety rests on them, and losing them feels like losing yourself.
Why it matters
It gives a simple way out of bondage: not a long effort against the gunas, but turning away from them to God alone.
